Sovereign Industrial Priorities

A grant of $50,000 to $1 million for up to 50% of the cost of a project to purchase manufacturing plant and equipment which is used directly to develop and/or deliver programs that are in line with the Sovereign Defence Industrial Priorities (SDIPs) described in the Defence Industry Development Strategy.

SDIP 1 – Maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrade (MRO&U) of Australian Defence Force aircraft

SDIP 2 – Continuous naval shipbuilding and sustainment

SDIP 3 – Sustainment and enhancement of the combined-arms land system

SDIP 4 – Domestic manufacture of guided weapons, explosive ordnance and munitions

SDIP 5 – Development and integration of autonomous systems

SDIP 6 – Integration and enhancement of battlespace awareness and management systems

SDIP 7 – Test and evaluation, certification and systems assurance

Suitable for small to medium-sized businesses with an Australian business number (ABN) seeking to invest in Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) for a Defence project.

Skilling / Workforce Training Grant

A grant between $5,000 and $250,000 to undertake various defence skills training activities. 

 

Skilling stream helps Australian defence industry to upskill and train in priority trade, technical and professional skillsets to develop a workforce with the right mix of qualified and experienced personnel to meet Defence requirements. The program will enhance the capacity and capability of Australian defence industry workforce to deliver SDIPs described in the Defence Industry Development Strategy.

Suitable for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that currently have a Defence contract, are tendering for one, are a subcontractor to a defence prime or contracted through the Prime's supply chain to deliver on defence projects.

Export Grant

A grant of $15,000 to $250,000 for up to 50% of the cost of investing in projects that build export capability to build a stronger, more sustainable and globally competitive Australian defence industry.

    Eligible activity inlcudes buying, leasing, constructing, installing or commissioning of capital equipment and enhancements to cyber security including purchase of specialist software as they relate to new or expanded defence export opportunities.

Suitable for small to medium sized businesses with an Australian business number (ABN).

Security Uplift Grant

A grant between $10,000 and $100,000 to undertake various defence skills training activities. 

 

The Security stream helps Australian defence industry improve and maintain security in priority areas as identified by the SDIPs and in line with the Defence Industry Security Program.

Suitable for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that currently have a Defence contract, are tendering for one, are a subcontractor to a defence prime or contracted through the Prime's supply chain to deliver on defence projects.
